Welcome to the CEC (Community Education Council) for District 13 in Brooklyn, NY. We represent the parents and guardians of children in District 13 schools. We are here to the serve the families, kids, and and schools in District 13. District 13 encompasses all or part of the following neighborhoods: Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, Park Slope, South Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Boerum Hill, Gowanus, Vinegar Hill, and Downtown Brooklyn.
As outlined in our mission statement, our priority is to promote family involvement in our schools and to stay connected with the amazing neighborhoods we’re so proud to serve. Our aim is strengthen community relationships with the schools while promoting positive, productive, and bi-directional lines of communication with our partners in the Department of Education. We also seek to stay connected with elected officials and various community organizations.
We are here to help all families and children of District 13. We strongly encourage you to join us at our monthly meetings. They are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month – see our calendar for more information. If we can be of service to you any way, please do not hesitate to contact one of the council members or submit a question/comment/concern to our on-line form.
